In the unassuming small town of Normal, an interim sheriff (Bob Odenkirk) takes on what he thinks will be an easy assignment until the new sheriff is elected. However, when a bank robbery goes horribly wrong, it unleashes an international chain of events, leaving the temporary sheriff to uncover the town’s nefarious secret and survive its violent protectors. Director Ben Wheatley (“A Field In England,” “Sightseers”) channels the deliriously violent energy of his bullet-riddled action thriller “Free Fire” with Odenkirk at the story’s center playing the part of a reluctant hero with marital problems in the spirit of Bruce Willis’ John McClane.
