Mariana and her friends belong to the Treasures of the Lord – an evangelical organisation teaching the word of Christ in the most absolute way possible – this means the girls must avoid all and every temptation – and in order to do so they control their environment and all that requires – even if it means putting on masks at night to hunt the town’s sinners in its streets.
However the dam must break and soon all the girls will have to face the feelings they’ve tried to hard to repress, most of all Mariana whose facade has started to crack much before she’d care to admit.
Take one dose of neon, one dose of a killer soundtrack and a wholly brilliant exploration of young women under pressure and you’re nowhere close to capturing the brilliance of Anita Rocha da Silveria’s film – a sensory experience so brilliantly intense that only the big screen could do it any justice.
