Going into its 45th year, Boston SciFi is the oldest genre festival in the US and showcases over 100 sci-fi films annually, concluding with its always-incredible 24-hour repertory marathon! Sunday, Feb 9th at 1:00pm | Somerville Theatre THE LONG WALK Directed by Mattie Do | Laos | 2019 | Tickets The unsettling truth groans and twitches in every frame of Laos’ only female director Mattie Do’s time-traveling ghost story, THE LONG WALK. The film revolves around a man who stumbles upon the ghost of a woman killed in a tragic accident. The ghost grants him the ability to travel back in time to his boyhood and relive the moments leading up to his mother’s death.
Friday, Feb 14th at 9:15pm | Somerville Theatre DEAD DICKS Directed by Chris Bavota and Lee Paula Springer | Canada | 2019 | Tickets Becca rushes to her suicidal brother’s apartment and finds him surrounded by copies of his own dead body, and one is moving. Multi-fest winner!
Saturday, Feb 15th at 9:30pm | Somerville Theatre BLOOD QUANTUM Directed by Jeff Barnaby | Canada (First Nations) | 2019 | Tickets One the most anticipated SciFi/Horror films of 2019. Set in an isolated Miꞌgmaq Red Crow reservation, the dead are coming back to life. This time the horror is twisted. The Anglos are infected and the Indigenous inhabitants are ironically immune to the zombie plague. Director Barnaby is Miꞌgmaq and grew up on the Listuguj reserve in Quebec.
