#BUFF21 came to a close last night at the Lilypad. We put our heads together and debated our picks and we tallied your votes from our audience award polls. And, as always, we presented our 2019 Bacchus Awards to the best of this year’s films. While we love every film in the festival, at the end only a few can take home the coveted Bacchus Awards…

Happy Face (dir. Alexandre Franchi)
Best Short
Last Days of the Man of Tomorrow (dir. Fadi Baki)
Best First Feature

Best New England Film
Let’s Be Friends (dir. Ryan Glista)

Hail Satan? (dir. Penny Lane)

We’d also like to express our most sincere thanks and gratitude to all the volunteers, filmmakers, and fans who came out over the past five days to take a chance on some strange, difficult, and wonderful films and help us make this little punk rock dream of a festival into a reality year after year. It’s truly a labor of love to put these screenings and shorts blocks and parties together year after year and we do it with just a handful of cash, almost no corporate sponsorship, and very few hours of sleep. But, against all odds, we’ve made it here – exhausted and victorious – to the end of another festival, and we can’t wait to see you back at the Brattle this time next year.
