Rose (Maeve Higgins) is a woman torn between running from destiny and heeding her true calling. A driving instructor in small-town Ireland, she’ll do anything to redefine herself as more than the “sensitive” daughter of a now-deceased famous TV medium.
Her day to day is filled with small hauntings; sheeted-ghosts using the crosswalk, a spectral toaster socket, a tree branch waving from beyond the grave. Accustomed to paranormal activity all around her, she’s keen to keep it private. When has-been rockstar Christian Winter (Will Forte) comes to town in search of a sacrificial lamb to renew his Faustian bargain with the Dark Lord (in exchange for another hit album), their paths cross with hilarious, extraordinary consequences.
Irish writer/director dynamos Enda Loughman and Mike Ahern’s electric debut breathes new life into the horror-comedy genre. Comic/author Maeve Higgins absolutely shines, delivering some of the funniest lines of the decade. A quirky, outlandish laugh riot, Extra Ordinary is Ghostbusters as if set on Craggy Island; in other words, 100% pure BUFF.
