Wednesday, June 20, 2018
Derick Crucius is a Philadelphia based independent filmmaker, artist, musician and BUFF alum. The themes in Derick‛s work revolve around the outcasts of society. He is deeply interested by what are considered social norms and likes to expose the behavior of the unwanted. Other themes present in his films are the ideas of isolation, loneliness, mental health, and the celebration of life and death. He also likes to combine analog with digital technology to showcase the stark contrast between the two. Derick’s films tend to shift from transgressive humor to abstract while always remaining experimental, underground, and thought provoking. His work has screened at film festivals and cinemas around the world including Cannes and the Blow-Up Chicago Arthouse International Film Festival.
