Sweet, pretty Daisy takes good care of her sick mama. Little does she know that, thanks to a nosy neighbor (played by Karen Black), she’s about to earn a one-way ticket to the Big House.

Presented in black and white, this homage to 1950s pulpy women-in-prison movies has all the hallmarks of the genre: a woman unjustly accused, tough-talking dames, sadistic guards, and some major catfight action.

Framed for murder and condemned to hang, Daisy is sent to Death Row. Here, she’ll spend her final days in the
company of a quartet of murderous ladies: a Black Widow, a cop-killing hooker, a barely verbal baby-killer, and a tax-evading evangelical who’s not afraid to pull out her shotgun when the feds come knocking.

Daisy tries to protest her innocence, which only draws more abuse at the hands of her guard. But in her humiliation, Daisy forms a bond with her fellow prisoners—and even grabs her first furtive taste of love one night. Soon, she discovers that while her body may be stuck, her spirit is finally free.

Meanwhile, Daisy’s neighbor is slowly unraveling from guilt. Will she admit her mistake in time to free Daisy, or just completely lose her shit?
