EAST COAST PREMIERE with SIMON RUMLEY
2010, USA/UK, 102 min.
Director/Screenwriter: Simon Rumley (in attendance)
Cast: Noah Taylor, Amanda Fuller, Marc Senter, Nick Ashy Holden
Erica is a woman of the fairly damaged sort. She lives in the local co-op and spends her evenings cruising Austin’s bar and club scene in the hopes of getting into someone’s (anyone’s!) bed for the night.
Nate is a man, also of the fairly damaged sort. Recently discharged from the Army after serving in Iraq, Nate lacks the lechery that the promiscuous Erica is used to. Nate is a different kind of creepy, and Erica likes that. The two form a hesitant friendship.
Franki is a wannabe rock musician. His relationship with his girlfriend is on the rocks, his sickly mother requires constant care and his band can’t seem to find its way out of the garage. During one drunken night of debauchery, he crosses paths with Erica. The encounter is enough to send Franki’s world into a tailspin, taking Erica and Nate down with him.
The less you know about Red White & Blue going in, the more surprising and jarring the action will be when it all plays out. Stunning performances by Noah Taylor and Amanda Fuller as Nate and Erica, respectively, give the characters the emotional weight required for what is to come. Writer/director Simon Rumley (Club Le Monde, The Living and the Dead) fleshes out his three main characters for the maximum impact when tragedy finally strikes.
