Whether you’re married with children, thinking about it, or thinking about how to avoid it, there comes a time in every relationship when you find yourself in a sticky pickle that only an orgy amongst friends can dislodge.
Watch three couples in various states of relationship (and undress) meander the slippery slope of consensual group sex politics. It’s funny, it’s awkward, and it’s not at all the sexy little romp everyone was expecting. At the helm of this little expedition is Todd, emcee of the titillating task at hand. By his side, his reluctant wife Tina, a countrybumpkin-type who wants to accommodate Todd’s libidinal pursuits without compromising her own, more wholesome scruples.
Cue the partygoers, soon-to-be partycummers: (demanding) Yasmine & (uptight) Alan, and (codependent) Rachel & (alcoholic) Gordon. Place these variously sexually frustrated protagonists on an old strawberry farm in the Bayou and watch the games begin.
In turns mad-cap, heartbreaking, excruciating, and hilarious, Cummings Farm presents an entertainingly sincere vision of tight-asses gone not-so-wild and what it means to cling to the last vestiges of youthful folly by way of a poorly thought out sex act. This film will transcend any expectations you might have regarding a story about an orgy amongst late twenty-something heteros: there’s no lowbrow hipster hijinks or dude-humor here.
Screenwriter Ted Beck takes his time exploring the motivations of and interactions between each character with pitch-perfect dialogue. You’ll find your gaze so transfixed on the tragicomic scenario of semi-nude n00bs fumbling towards (but not quite reaching) ecstasy that you’ll forget to ask why anyone thought this orgy was a good idea in the first place.
