When the world gets too crazy, checking yourself into an asylum may be your sanest option. But when six misfit —virgin nymphomaniac Antoine, mousy trophy wife Maud, evangelical nihilist Paul, introverted exhibitionist Miranda, androgynous rapper Alan, and Alice the cybernetic Lolita—arrive at a mysterious institution for a little medicated R&R, they are told that there’s only one vacancy.
To earn the slot, the potential patients are pitted against each other in a series of bizarre evaluations. They go head-to-head in a talent competition, they roam the asylum, and they enter a dream realm while wearing animal heads, all under the watchful eye of the unseen doctor known as “The Beard.”
Will Antoine find much-needed release with the repressed Maud before he explodes? Will Alice finally download all of the information in the world directly into her brain? Who will be named the craziest of them all? And what’s up with that disembodied beard?
All this and more will be revealed in this surreal and darkly comic romp into the subconscious. Think Willy Wonka meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
